"Our City" introduces students to the city as a place where people live, work, play and learn. They become aware of the importance of civic planning for the economic development of a city. Students examine the role of the builder and become aware of the necessary connection between the builder and the city designer (urbanist). They explore the role of a restaurant manager and work in a group to make decisions about its operation. Through discussions they learn to distinguish the difference between consumer and producer, examine the purpose of a newspaper as a means of communication for the people of a city, learn about the role of the journalist and create their own article titles and writings for a class newspaper. Through a role-playing game, children perform simple financial actions, becoming aware of the importance of banks for the life of a city. Through this module, teachers are oriented on how to work with students around the businesses of the city.
