InnoVET 2.0 Students Exploring Innovation & Entrepreneurship During the Second Study Visit at POLIS University

Junior Achievement of Albania, in collaboration with POLIS University, organized the second study visit under the InnoVET 2.0 program, bringing together 36 students from the Technical VET School Korça (26 students) and “Sami Frashëri” High School in Tirana (10 students). All participating students from 10th and 11th grade took part in an orientation experience designed to introduce them to the world of innovation, prototyping, and entrepreneurship.

The visit opened with welcoming remarks from Dr. Elona Karafili, Vice Rector of POLIS University, who highlighted the importance of collaboration between vocational education, universities, and actors across the innovation ecosystem to better prepare young people for future labor market demands.

Throughout the morning, students explored POLIS University’s laboratories and creative environments, including the Prototyping Lab (FabLab), innovation incubators, and collaborative studios. They were introduced to tools and processes used to develop ideas, prototypes, and real projects across technical and creative fields.

The program continued with a hands-on activity focused on the MOLA structural system, facilitated by Dr. Flogerta Krosi. Through group work and the creation of earthquake-resistant structures, students were encouraged to develop their creative thinking and problem-solving skills. The aim of the exercise was not technical construction, but rather to help students experiment with ideas, test approaches, and reflect on the problem-solving process—one of the core components of innovative learning.

In the final part of the visit, students met with POLIS faculty members and student entrepreneurs, who shared practical experiences from their journey of ideation, testing, and developing innovative projects. The interactive Q&A session provided a motivating space for students to connect the concepts presented throughout the day with their own interests and aspirations.

The study visit offered valuable exposure to higher education environments, helping students understand the role of labs and creative spaces, and how innovation and entrepreneurship can shape their professional formation.

InnoVET 2.0 is implemented by Junior Achievement of Albania, in partnership with POLIS University, the Technical VET School Korça, and “Sami Frashëri” High School in Tirana, with the support of GIZ and EU4Innovation.
